  • Mileage

    Ok we love our mileage.
The reason I bought this little beast last week in fact.

But playing with cars is what I do and alot you do also.

So my question. After the various swaps I would be curious to see what your mileage became after you upgraded engines. I know that the HP factor inflicts a disease known as "heavy foot", so mileage may suffer. But I would like to hear some input.

Depends on how you drive it. Its hard to go by what other people say. Theyre probably out enjoying the power of the bigger engines 99% of the time.

I agree, see "heavy foot" disease above.

And if they are getting 35 MPG with the disease that is a good indicator of what a cured person might get.

I am not sure what I am getting with my stock B3 yet. Do not have enough time in it. But I can almost guarantee I will be swapping but I do not want to affect the mileage too much. I already have the toy in the Supercoupe I really need the mileage.

bhazard, looked at the ecomodder website. Interesting.

Didn't have an engine swap, but here are my details. My 88 Carbed 4 speed Festiva averaged 45MPG in its early years, got 46MPG thru the mountains & had 53 MPG highway high on a flat highway east of the Rockies.

Two thousand miles ago my MPG got very erratic. Tho running evenly, MPG went from 33MPG on cold short winter trips to 48MPG on easy country valley drives. Two months ago I had new sparkplug wires installed. One month ago I had a new timing belt. The last 3 mountain drives have given me the best performance ever...averaging 50+MPG while in mountains with thousands of feet of up & down. The last tank totaled 10,300+ feet in ups & downs while getting 50.8MPG.
