I've gone to several places the past few days and no one has any 12" tires at all. They say they are phased out and they won't order them from Europe.
Walmart online doesn't list them any more.
I was thinking about getting a new set of 165/70-12s for my alloys on Twinstiva now so I'd have a set in case I ever picked up another stock bolt pattern Festiva that needed tires. Or I could sell that set later on after all mine were converted to 4 X 100mm.
There are still some available online but are pricey and shipping adds more cost to that insult.
The existance of 165/70-13s and other smallish 13" sizes are going the same route and being phased out or are already "obsolete."
I brought this possibility up in a post a year or so ago.
We need to see about planning for some kind of way to get our little tires at a better cost if possible. Perhaps a group buy once in a while from FMS or another vendor who could arrange a shipment from Europe or something?
With a few thousand folks on here we should be able to create enough demand for an occasional shipment to each coast, or at least the midwest.
Our tires are small, cheap and should cost less than other sizes. Now it it going in the opposite direction and there may be no going back. New "real small cars" weigh what a "compact" did back in the eighties (over 2200 pounds) and they are coming with 14 and 15" wheels!! So that's no help.
The "perfect" budget performance all-season, the Falken Ziex in 175/60-13 has been out of production now for a while. How long until the other options like the Toyo Proxes in 195/45-14 and the off brand 185/55-14s, etc. are gone?
We may soon see the day when 155/80 and 175/70 13s are phased out. Those will usually fit our cars, but are actually pretty inefficient and too tall and heavy for maximum mpgs and performance.
Any ideas??
