I'd go for the Festy. It's not a power issue with me though, it's the roominess. Metros always feel cramped. There's so much room inside a festy that anyone can drive them. The person I bought mine from must have been over seven feet tall and bragged how he moved a side by side washer and dryer in it.

As a 6'4, 250 lb Festiva driver, I agree. The Metro tried to be sleek and stylish sort of, which compromised the interior roominess. The Festiva is little more than a driver's compartment with an engine up front. It's roomier than those who've never driven one think it is. It's like Dr. Who's Tardis.
The one thing harder to find than a Festiva for sale is a metro for sale with a good body.

I can't say I like the metro too much... but as for options and stuff I'm gonna have to say my new daihatsu charade kills the festy hands down. I haven't driven it yet due to a toasted clutch, but it has A/C, power locks, power windows, rear wiper and rear defog all standard on an '88. Plus its a 1.0L 3 cylinder five speed so its quite competitive with gas mileage as well. It was also cheaper than the festy at $50, the festy set me back $100, lol, so the daihatsu was half the price.
We'll wait for your judgement after you get it running and put 500+ lbs of stuff in the back and see what you think then!

You guys are talking about 3 cyl metros of course, ya know they did also have 1.3l 4cyls as well. And metro xfi's can easily get 60+ mpg. Late metros beat the festy in aerodynamics by far I think. Festivas are a box. I wanna find some coroplast and do some aero mods to mine, block up the grill and such, bellypan and all. I still have yet to hit 50mpg on a fillup for some reason. Ive come so close.
