buying a festiva

i am looking into buying a festiva to become a project. i want one that is still in good shape so what should i look for when purchasing one? are there any problems that i should look for?

Look for a fuel injected one with a 5 speed. The 88 and 89's were carbed. Make sure it starts and drives straight. Check for excessive oil leaks in the engine compartment. They often leak from the valve cover and front crank oil seal but both are easy to fix. Ask about the age of the timing belt and clutch.

As far as body, try to find a rust free one is possible. The common areas of rust are in front of the rear wheels, leading edge of the hood and the lower part of the hatch.
