a little, but i think its all leak and no burn, cause i got no smoke at all, even when its cold. got to figure out where the leaks are, think its oil pan gasket and VC gasket, but i'm not sure.89 L, hopefully returning from the dead soon with a little more power...

Autos are junk ! Who came up with that drive ratio ????????????? I wont drive my autos. Its a joke after driving five speeds. RPM at 70 MPH on an auto = RPM on a five speed at 90 MPH. Major design flaw IMO.sigpic

agreed, but it's nice for commuting in Baltimore/Washington DC traffic. Power will be a bit better with a B6 swap...Jim DeAngelis

My '93GL with auto & B6 swap gets around 26 mpg average going to and from work, which is a combination of roughly equal highway and city, with a somewhat heavy right foot.
Highway mileage on longer trips is around 37 mpg.
I didn't think I'd like a small car with auto, but I've grown fond of it. It's nice when you want to drink some coffee, etc. Just no full course spaghetti meals! Too distracting.
As for the Aspire auto swap, I may still do it. The Aspire has a lower final drive for better pickup and a lockup torque converter in 3rd gear, which should make up for some of the potential fuel economy loss.

I think the worst I've gotten in my '93GL B6/ATX was 24.5 mpg in daily driving. The cause: heavy right foot plus not keeping an eye on the tire pressures. I think I let one or two tires drop down to 28 psi. Normally I run 33 psi.
Luxstiva's best was around 28 mpg in daily driving.
If I could force myself to drive like Mother Goose (without the goose) I could probably return 29 or 30 mpg.
