I dont know how many of you guys have ever done this. Im putting on new front wheel bearings and was talking to an old gent at a caterpillar shop and telling him how hard it was without a hydraulic press. He told me after you get old bearings off (which i had to use a grinder to take off old bearings), clean the spindle up, put it in the freezer overnight. When you get ready to put bearings on, put bearings in the oven at about 300 degrees for about 15 minutes to half hour. Get them warm, pull your spindle out of freezer and those bearings will just about slip on by themselves. Now i know there are more technicle terms for spindle and all, but i tried it and it worked slicker than snot. I have a 93 festiva and now have new bearings on front. Just thought i would share that with you. The old gent told me heat and cold would not bother your metal or bearings. The actually do this using a big freezer and an oven at his shop on catipillar equipment.

I do that with the rear drum races
Heat the drum and freeze the race.
Not certain I want to heat my un-lubricated bearing to 300°F (I assume °F).
I assume you them lub the bearing after it's on the "spindle"?
How do you put the hub sections back together?
Do you just used the axle nut to pull everything back together?'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)
