  • Corvette driver Festiva envy...

On the way home yesterday I pulled up next to a 'Vette and pulled a little in front of it. After a few moments he pulls up even to me and I hear his window go down. And we start a conversation:

    Corvette Driver (CD): Hey man.

Me: What's up (expecting a wise crack)?

CD: What kind of mileage do you get out of that thing?

Me: I've averaged over 50 mpg for 40,000 miles.

    CD: Wow, that's pretty amazing.

Me: It's great transportation... I have a Mustang if I feel the ned for speed.

CD: What is that a Fiesta?

    Me: It's a Festiva...

CD: I need to find one of them...

Me: Good luck, I had to drive 7 hours to North Carolina to get mine because I wanted a 5 speed because they get much better mileage.

CD: I would say it was worth the trip.

Me: It paid for itself a long time ago. And the great thing about driving the Festiva daily is when I do drive my Mustang it feels like rocket!!

CD: He laughs.... the light changes

Me: I take off with my alternator belt squealing... maybe he thought it was tire spin...

Anyways it made my day!! It's crazy that I get more comments on my Festiva than my ultra rare Comp Prep SVO when I drive it!
1986 Comp Prep SVO Mustang(1 of 83) Four cylinder turbo! (Think first Fox body "R" model!)
1995 F-150 Extra Cab and it was free!
    1991 Festiva L, Surf Blue with A/C
1995 Jeep Cherokee 2wd 5 speed 4.0 and it was free!
1993 Aqua Festiva and it was cheap!
1994 Brake Swap and it was cheap!
1969 Ford F100 Big Block Ranger and it was free! (coming 2/12)

With the cars we have I drive Buster (our Festy) most of the time and I tell my wife, "Yes, they are all jellous". I really like it when we have Jake (our French Bulldog) in the car... Jake cost almost 4x more than Buster. Only in America.

Good story. Most people I talk to ( after the teasing ) either knows someone who had a festiva or they had one themselves and they will tell you it was a great little car and they wished they still had one.

Same thing happened to me the other day, except it was a guy in a jeep. Me and the girl friend both have festiva as daily drivers and she says she gets offers all the time too, I hope for the car

Lol, that's why I'm trying to find myself another festiva. My first car that was mine was a 91 red L 5 spd, I love that car more than any car I've had since. I've learned my lesson tho, never to teach my sister how to drive a stick. Instead of putting in the clutch and stepping on the brake, she let the clutch out and mashed on gas, sending my poor baby in reverse at about 25 mph out of the driveway, clearing a 4 ft ditch and into the guy wire for a telephone pole crushing the hatch and the left side of the frame in 2 inches. I ended up signing it over to my father when I left the state and he sold it to some random guy who showed up at our house for 25 bucks. I still miss him.

I've thought about cutting some vinyl (I have a cutter) that says "My Other Car Is A Ferrari" that would make'm laugh.

Here's Jake on the bote last year.
