Yeah, with having to buy a rebuild kit and cylinder head, every $$$ saved, no matter how little is good.

Sticky would be nice, but I was able to use the search engine and find this page. :p

Are you buying a whole cylinder head?

Yeah i need to, but rock auto doesn't sell them. If you know where I can get a good one for a "CHEAP" price I would be really interested.

B3? If your isn't cracked then you have a usable core. I can replace the guides and do a valve job. Only thing I can't do is deck it, but that wouldn't be much at a machine shop.

As far a I know its not cracked, but it is scored up pretty bad. Looks like someone used a screw driver or something else when they removed the head gasket previously. There are some that are pretty deep and go into the firing rings ( I think thats what thier called). When I had the head off before to replace the gasket, I was hoping that it would seal, but it wouldn't. There is a head on ebay for $149.00 that I will have to use my cam shaft, or I can get a complete one for $225.00. Just trying to pinch every penny due to my up coming move to La.

That $149 is a pretty sweet deal. That's about how much you'd have in rebuilding yours after parts, labor, and machine shop. And it sounds like yours will definitely need to be decked. If that's $149 shipped I think I'd get it it. You'd have about the same amount in rebuilding yours. Decking - $40, Replaced Guides (minus labor) - $20, Valve job - $75 = $135 (and you'd still be using your original cam)

I forgot to mention that it is a B3. I might go to the Pull-A-Part in Louisville on friday, they have two Festivas there, but they have been there since January, so not sure if they still have the motors or heads. Also mine is an 89, and I think those are 90's or 91's, will they work?

The one on Ebay is without shipping, but I think it will only cost about $30-$40 to ship. Still tossing the ideal around. I will do some calling around this week to try and find one. I would really like to get one before this week end because my rebuild kit should be in by then, and I can get back on the road (hopefully), as long as nothing else goes wrong!

Any B3 head will work except for the Aspire since it's a roller cam. But if you're swapping the whole head maybe those would work too(?). I'll let someone reply who's tried it because I don't want to give you bad info since I haven't personally tried that swap yet. That Ebay shipping price does start pushing the price into the area where it would be cheaper to rebuild yours. Hopefully you can find a good donor at PAP. If not, let me know and we can try to work something out on rebuilding yours if you want to go that direction.
