  • Cleaning aluminum?

I'm trying to get my transmission looking good before it makes it home in the Festiva. What do you guys recommend for cleaning the exterior of the transmission. It almost looks like it had a clearcoat or something over the aluminum. Or maybe its just been gunked up for to many years.

Purple Power , or Castrol Super clean will brighten it right up .

Just read the directions and wear rubber gloves !!!

Just do not use it on polished aluminum , it will remove and finish in a hurry !!

wire wheel cleaner works as well as all the stuff posted above ^^ Why don't you take all the gears, seals, and sensors out and have it Powdercoated.

I just want it to be cleaned. Kinda of new looking. Don't really want to break it apart, and put it back together.

Lots of degreaser + wire brushes + elbow grease + pressure washer = clean festiva transmission housing.

Don't really want to use a wire brush because I don't want to dig into the aluminum housings.
