  • just bought a beater vw.

i need a diesel for a daily driver. i want to make bio-diesel at home and enjoy a fuel that costs $1.00 a gallon to make. i wanted this to be a festiva, but its too difficult to swap a diesel into a festiva, and not cost effective. ill still keep my festiva race car but my dailydriver is going to be this vw diesel truck.

it cost $100, the dealer got it as a trade and it didnt run. i got it towed to my house from the dealers lot and put a good battery in it and it still wouldnt run. wouldnt you know it the glow plugs are not working, so it needs to be started on ether, but it ran good after figuring that out. i need to fix the glow plugs, but the core engine is good. i drove it around the neighbor hood already. it needs some work, the a/c dont work, the truck is GUTTED. someone sanded the body down and primered it. the interrior is missing, the floor of the bed had been cut out for some reason. but hey it runs!
i found most of the parts missing out of the truck, so ill just put it back together.

55mpg, $1.00 per gallon fuel, $100 truck, not bad for a daily driver...?

Be careful using ether in a diesel engine. Reealll easy to crack a head or a connecting rod or block. Oh, and good luck finding parts at a reasonable price Just one more thing, VW diesel truck? Is it one of those Rabbits with the pickup bed? I saw one for sale in town. Guy wants 2800 bucks for it.

yo, you dont need to pay for feul... go to Burger King, McDonalds, Wendys.. etc and ask for the old used burger grease.. they will give it to you for free, run it though a filter and use that as gas, my uncle does it with his Chevy all the time, it works sooo fucking awesome, its not even funny!!!! just pay the 20-50 bucks for the filter!!!!

its a trans-fatty acid, same basic building blocks as petroleum hydrocarbons. It has to blended with diesel to for lubricity and thermal stability issues, otherwise it'll burn very similar to diesel.

i know people down here in the south run straight used cooking oil, sence we dont have winters. i saw a guy with a rabbit doing it once, however im not really into that. dumpster diving for used oil and fish heads isnt really my thing, no matter how much i might save.

i would rather make my own biodiesel from brand new cooking oil that you buy through a food distrobutor. maybe mix in some used motor oil or somthing.
