  • The Down-Low on the 90 Festiva's!

I went to a car show here today and got a 1990 Festiva brochure
and it taught me a lot. The 90 L and L plus had the same grille and taillights as the 91-93, but the same basic content as 88 and 89. The L and L Plus were more similar in 88 and 89 than in 90. In 1990 the L had thin body side moldings, the L Plus the thick ones but they look different than any 88-90 LX..and also had no bittersweet red stripe. The L had no blackout window trim but the L Plus and LX both did in 90. The 90 L had the plain instrument cluster but the L Plus and LX both had white guages vs yellow/orange in 88-89 and both had tachs, even the L Plus! They also had trip odometers on L plus and LX in 90. The L plus also had full door trim in 90 with cloth inserts and map pockets. Power steering AND automatic both were optional in 90 on L Plus and LX models. In 90 you could get a rear defroster and seperatly optional rear wiper on L models. L Plus had standard defrost but optional wiper. There was no optional cargo cover on L or L plus in 90. The headrests on the LX in 90 were a one year only see through design. All festiva models in 90 had fuel injection and, if manual, five speeds. L plus models in 90 shared a headlamps on warning, the L did not get it. All 90 models had automatic front seatbelts and rear shoulder belts.

It would be nice to see it. I am still stumped as to why my 93 L does not have and appears to never have had a L sticker on the hatch....wonder how I can find out that info?

Yep ---- all as stated ! Our white '90 L Plus has all that you mention, but no rear wiper, and no passenger side outside rearview mirror. Has air too, 5-speed.
A GREAT car to drive with one-owner 95,000 miles ! I think it makes about 45 mpg. driven normally. Mr dad bought it new and asked me what I thought about it at that time...he wanted my opinion. Too bad I did not take it more seriously then like I do now ......... also, my wife and I had a '86 Kawasaki Voyager motorcycle which got the same exact mileage as the Festiva. Rather have the car however, as we do.

i got the 1990 escort/festiva ford training VHS tape that says all that stuff on it. i think it's also on youtube.
it'll do the 1/8 in 13.7, spin tires, and make all my drunk buddies giggle.
