  • Driving to work today

On my way to work this morning I turned a corner and heard a weird "POP" sound. Well right after this I immediatly had the worse wheel bearing grinding, howling sound I have ever heard. (PU241 was on the phone with me after work and was like "what is all that noise"!) The front bearing had started making noise a couple weeks ago and finally let go. I was worried it wasn't going to make the last 1 1/2 mile to work, and we have a perfect attendance bonus which is $1000 after taxes! Well the car made it, so after work I decided to drive it over to my friends shop which is only half way home and I could come back tonight and fix it. I replaced both front hubs (thanks Festyboy) and now it is as quiet as can be! he front drivers side was destroyed, I think the bearing exploded or something.

You should buy it something special for making it the last mile and 1/2.

Take it back to the back porch, join the 3 string revolution.

Yeah, I made it back to town. I figured I would take it 0.5 mile from my house to a mechanic guy I know. On they way got pulled over for having my hazards on, cop made me tow the car the rest of the 1/4 mile to his house ($50), got 2 tickets for no seat belt and no front plate ($200), then had to pay $60 for new a new line.

All in all a fun day.

I also got lucky a month ago, the front bearings also started making noise, and when I got it repaired at the shop, I saw the parts and apparently, the passenger's side bearing race spun inside the spindle and enlarged the hole, instead of the bearing locking up in the race. Sucked that I had to already put a new hub/spindle (just had my Aspire swap done) but at least I didn't lock up a wheel, or even worse, lose it!!!
The left lane? Are you crazy!!! I never drive in the left lane...It's full of freaks driving the wrong way and charging right at you!!!
