  • I see the end for my Green festiva :(

I have been hoping the day would be far far away but i feel like my Green car is falling apart from rust, like just yesterday the drivers side wiper broke because of the mounting point on the body rotted out, my rear bumper has major pieces that have been eaten away, a big hole in the floor, the list goes on

so this could very well be the last year i drive my Green festiva, i'll either replace it this coming spring or wait til spring 2010, and what my intentions would be is to find a nice rust-free festiva and transfer over all the parts i've gathered for my green car, like my BP, aspire swap, lowering springs, hood, grille, taillights, swoopy mirrors, etc...... the only part i could think of that i may not keep would be the sunroof, which Brian would have dibs on

i just hate the thought that i'll be getting rid of it since it basically is my first car but they don't last forever

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

You can alway do what Stepfan did, bring one back from the brink with a lot of work.
Remember all the cutting and welding he did to get his back on the road?
I know you can do it, or bring it down this way and a group of us can patch it up!
Just give us some notice to get the gear and parts in place.

I do appreciate the offer, and i know it can be saved with a lot of work, but i keep wandering whats the next thing the rot out on it? i just don't know which would be more worth it, do a major rust repair, or start fresh with a new festiva?

But on the other hand, if it does come down to me getting rid of it, after i take off all the parts i want to keep, i would probably give the shell to someone to piece back together as a project car or something like that instead of seing it go to a junkyard

Just depends how much your first car is worth to you!
Oh, I understand, the most cost effective thing to do is as you've said, get a rust free body and transfer all usable parts.
But then, it wouldn't exactly be your first car.
Remember we have the parts, the equipment, the know-how, but do you have the will?

i do have the will to fix it back up, but i had the thought if i were to buy a new festiva, to try to find a JDM right hand drive festiva to transfer my BP into

the biggest problem i run into right now is i don't have a shop to do that kind of extensive rust repair on it, or the welder for that matter

Although i could always find a JDM festiva, transfer some of my parts, and while my green car is stripped, do the rust-repair (gradually) and and re-build it and have a total of 3 festivas

Tough call.. With readily available rust-free festers on the west coast or down south, I wouldn't do what I did with my car again.
