  • I kept my trap shut.

Took the car out for a long spin tonight,

Got stopped at 2 drink & drive traps, but we weren't driving sooo... Later on a cop pulls up besides me & says: "It would be a shame to have to give you a speeding ticket." I go: "I was speeding???" He says I was filrting with 80...

I just nod smile & take his admonitions, but he's full of %^&*. See, I had the car pc running the gps & it was in plot mode. I actually have telemetric gps data that proves he's lying & No, I wasn't speeding! I realize it sucks having to work in the holidays, but taking your frustrations out on some kid driving around, sheesh... Besides, I'm unaware that a *MOVING* police vehicle has a device that can measure another vehicle speed in a way that will hold in court.

I have to admit, I pondered asking him if we could park & talk this out. He didn't leave me the chance, though.

Meanwhile I have an mentally challenged guy behind me honking to get out of the way. Um, hello? The cop is talking to me dude!

This all makes me so mad!

    GRrrrrr
Mon arme a moi, c'est un stylo.

My brother was ticketed by a moving officer. Was stated as certified speedometer reading. The cop tailed him read his own speedo and wrote the ticket for that. He went to court and lost, so in MN anyway all they have to do is go the same speed as you and then its your word against yours basically.

i think their radar guns measure the speed there cruisers are moving and do the math to figure out how fast the on-coming car is moving

there radar can tell how fast oncoming cars are going. Plus they are trained to gauge speed on timing...don't think the judge wiill go against the cop if he says you were observed speeding. Make him show you the radar though if he says that is how he got you and you believe you were not really speeding.

There have been a few cases of GPS records vs RADAR GUN that went to court. Everyone I have read about the judge sides with the cops radar gun because its "certified and calibrated".

Radar can read your speed reguarless if hes moving or not, and it works if its coming towards you or away.

              kind of sux hugh?

I don't think he got a ticket...was just saying that the cop was messing with him.

But If I was not speeding and I had the proof that he did...I would definately try and fight it.

But as far as the radar being able to tell if you are speeding while the cop car is moving....I would hate it but how can you be upset if you were really speeding?

you can't win either way. THEY are always right, don't you know that?
Its bad cops that ruin it for the rest...

I was driving through Chicago about 8 years ago, my 87 honda accord... they pulled me over b/c i had a shark tooth necklace hanging from my rear view mirror (whatever!!??) anyway, they asked me to get out of the car and place my hands on the hood, and they searched my WHOLE car... didn't have anything to hide, so i just let 'em..

yep, you can do anything when you're a cop!

Next time tell them to shove it. I'm sure the US is the same as Canada, They need a warrant or, they need to see something illegal in plain sight (ie drugs on your back seat) to search your car.

If the cop feels a danger to him self he can search your car.
