Mufflers are one of those things that are cheaper to have done by a professional independent muffler shop - if cost is your biggest concern. Buying the parts to do it yourself is great if you are going for a premium system or stainless, etc. If cheap and functional is your objective then you will have a hard time getting a better price than your local shop can do for you. I have tried, and the systems that I bought in the past from auto parts retailers have been total junk and not lasted very long.

      good luck!

Just go to autozone and buy a cherrybomb turbo muffler in a 2" application. Tak eit to your muffler guy and have him weld you a cat-back exhaust 75-100 bucks total.

Get some aluminum chimney flashing and wrap your muffler then lock it down with baling wire.

the rest of my exhaust is great looks fine.. but the muffler has a hole in it and the pipe on the inside is completely disconnected and bouncing around on the inside.. well i don't have 75 bucks+ i really don't have much at all and my friend is a career welder and would do the welding for free.. so it's not a big deal just looking for something i can put on there to keep the cops from pulling me over for the hole in my exhaust. it sounds like one of those dodge neons with a cherry bomb on it but alot louder... and when i get the money to do a engine swap i plan on doing the whole exhaust system over in stainless steel or something top of the line..

Call around, I got my last muffler for around $18. It was from a smaller parts store not Autozone or Advance. Buy the right part and the job will be so much easier.

I put on a camaro's muffler from Martys Muffler Shop. He gave it to me for free because a fellow put something else on and did not want the take-offs. It looked like a Turbo Thrush? (had to make the mounts with 3/8" square and weld to muff)
I agree , the pro's can do it much easier than yourself with a stick.
One thing I have learned when welding mufflers under a car.... Put ear plugs in.....
Slag and Sparks in the ear hurt..

If your friend can weld then realy you could go to the jy and get any muffler that looks close to the same size as the one under your car. I just welded a Flowmaster that my friend gave me under mine. you just have to cut the hangers off the old one and weld them to the new once you have it in and where it need to be.

Yea I know what you mean. Look at escorts, mazdas and cars of this size. Not sure but Aspire ones might bolt right up. Good luck

Cut the pipe between the muffler and flange as close to the muffler as possible. Then find another muffler and weld it to the stub pipe/flange along with the hangers. Or just make a "muffler substitute" pipe for it. That's what I've got on both of mine and have not been stopped. Good luck.

I had welded a megaphone I made from a TT600 ice race bike into a 92 B6 Festiva , it surprised me that it really was not that noisy. (from the drivers seat )
