  • Great MPG CARS link!

Here are a couple of comments that I don't believe. Or maybe they don't know how to correctly calculate fuel economy.

    192. RE: 5 Top Retro Eco-Supercars: Best Fuel Sippers of the Past 34 Years
I owned a 1994 camero z28 that was pushing a little over 410 hp that I had special ordered from GM, on a trip to Los Angles on Interstate 5 I averaged just a little over 32 mpg doing around 95 mph Thank God I didnt run into any CHP's. Not bad for a car that was capable of exceeding 170 mph

Yeah right. Maybe his trip was a mile long and he coasted down a hill most of that.

How about this Aspire comment. Is this anyone from here? I have gotten 50 mpg a few times in my festiva, but this is in ideal conditions(strong tail wind) going 55 mph. When you start going fast (70 + ish) milage drops pretty significantly. Aspires don't do as well as Festivas, so I have a hard time believing anyone got 60 mpg going 70 mph.

I just read this story and the comments made by others who have read this and I have to ask....Where is the Ford Aspire in this???? My little 1995 Aspire S/E get over 60 miles per gallon on the highway,And thats at 70 miles per hour. And I know of a lot of other cars that are not on this list ..that should be.Ya just cant trust a list that dont have the Aspire when talking gas mileage.

I know.. I saw that...crazy. As speed goes up around 75 to 80 mph today's cars with their understressed engines get similar economy to Festivas and Aspires doing the same speeds.

Big cars although they can drop their rpm's and have 15 years of technology ahead for long drives, they can't get the city mpg's up any higher than the 1980's. Weight is the factor there. The superior car has the modern more powerful engine in the earlier model. Sounds like one of the foundations of this site and many others
        1993 GL 5 speed

It's a MazdaFordnKia thing, and you will understand!
