Cherry Bomb has cost me about $600 so far. The Silver Bullet project is over a grand so far and I still have a bunch to do before it is ready to hit the streets.

I couldn't even tell you how much money I have spent on my cars, but its some retarded amount. Although I think Simon wins for the most money spent on Festiva's!
What should you do first? It all depends on what your looking for, first I would make sure its safely operational.
Then if you are looking for more power depending on the level of power and money you want to spend. first there's the B6 it is a direct swap, then the BP, and finally a B6T or BPT.

If you get an early B6 it will bolt right in place of your B3. Everything you have now will work on it.

88/89.. visually it looks almost the same as your B3

the 90+ motors have the throttle body on the side of the intake, so it takes abit more work.

edit.. Me? Too much.. prolly a few K. I think I put 6-700 into my new motor (complete rebuild).

I had a 1988 LX five speed, drove it from 192K to 234K between 4-97 and 2-99 and put front brakes on it and a cooling fan relay in...that was it! I had a 1988 L Plus that had 85K on it and between me and the next guy....drove it to around 140K and spent NOTHING on it! It burned oil from the git go but never needed a single repair! I had a Silver 88 L Plus got from my dad....ZERO in maintanance or repairs. Maybe I was lucky...but it did not get any better than that!

I bought my 88 LX in awesome shape for $500. It has just about every option (A/C etc.). I put the cd player, amp and sub from my mustang in it (couldn't hear it in the mustang anymore, ha). Other than usual maintenance (tune-up, oil change) I haven't done anything to it. It has 165,000 miles on it. Now it needs $400 worth of suspension work and my radiator just died last week. It STILL does its annoying bucking crap when accelerating, but it will be worth it! I can't wait to get it fixed! I miss driving it, ha.

lets see, 1st got car in 2004, spent about $200.00 then, only thing other than that i've put wheel bearings all around, new front discs, replaced hub and spindle, new ball joints, tie rod ends and arms, sway bar bushings, steering wheel cover, tires, speedometer cable, twice (keep winding it too high in 2nd and 3rd, lol) lost speedo gear into tranny, poked hole in bottom, got gear out, put piece aluminum and jb weld over hole, I'd say about 500.00. plus time. But i've saved that and more in gas so im ahead and the grey ghost just keeps on ticking. Course im not into power with mine. I use it to save money cause im the only one working and wife is retired. But i'd be lost without my festiva.

currently $900 into my GL Funtop festy and its still stock with a now blown headgasket :-(
it does have A/C, oem alloys and powersteering, so i`ll try selling those on ebay to get the cost of the car down a bit. the car will be recieving an aspire swap, b6 dohc or b8 swap, and some new paint. trying to keep the cost down to $1500 for the whole project.

i have $3000 into my turbo sentra (including the $500 i paid for the car) that includes the complete turbo setup, drag radials, VERY good full coilover suspension, gauges, ect. the car is just awesome! i don`t think the $3k could have been spent in any better way lol.
