Salty Ohio

I recently returned from the Maryland shore (via Ohio) I'm sure our Ohio contengent can back me up here, I've never seen to much salt on the roads in my life. I followed a county truck 40 miles in the middle of the night, watching it dump heeps of raw salt onto a mostly ice free road. It wasn't snowing, or threatening to snow, or all that cold. Why?!! No wonder midwestern cars die premature deaths. I thought Michigan was bad (and it is) but nothing like I witnessed in Ohio. My poor festy was covered in white salt residue.....still is in fact. I better go wash her quick.

Doesn't Sand do just as good a job?

yup....saves from having to add it to anything else when you have it floating around in the air.

Sand wouldn't lower the freeze temperature of water though, as is the purported purpose of using salt / brine in the first place.

I proudly admit conspiracy tendencies: I think the auto industry wants to rid America of festys!!... Ohio is apparently the test state... Followed closely by Michigan and Minnesota.
