What are you looking for? SOHC or the DOHC?
    I do know I could get a '89 Mercury Tracer B6 SOHC W/ 95,000 miles for $150

        Didnt he find the answer?

I would think anywhere from 2-4 hundred depending on condition

Would think you probably correct depending upon the year and mileage 200-$400 is probably about right depending upon what-else maybe included.
Like tranny, axles, or if we are talking about a whole car.

            mine was free

all depends on how long you look, what contacts you have, and how good of a condition you want it to be in.

just go to a decent u pull it yard, where mazda engines are usually plentiful. you can pick up engines for $65-100 at u pull it yards.

you need to move then, dude, up here i know of 4 yards within 3 hrs driving with loads of mazda engines. the prices range from $65 on sale with no core to $100 with a $20 core being regular price. i would say the protege b8 sohc motors are the most plentiful, as well as the b6 sohc in the 323's and mx3's. a few of the yards will even pull the motor for an extra $30 (which is worth it in this nasty weather)

go on car-part.com , type in your zip code, and look for an engine for either a 92 mx3 w/1.6 liter or a 92 protege w/1.8 sohc, all 3 will come up with those searches. you can sort the results by distance. its a great site!
