  • Scooooooore!!!

I found this car while garage sale hopping a few days ago. It was back between a couple houses with the rear toward the street. It looked like it had been sitting parked for awhile. I got out and noticed the tag expired almost a year ago so I knocked on the door. A lady came to the door and I asked if they’d be interested in selling it. She said the car didn’t run and that they were thinking about selling it to a junk yard. I told her I had a ‘92 and wouldn’t mind having an extra parts car. I left my number so that she could check with the Hubby.

I didn’t hear from them the next day and I didn’t want to push them so I waited and went back on day 3. The Hubby was home this time and he said ”The thing’s a beat up piece and I want it out of the drive so give me $50 and you do whatever you want with it”. I raced to get the dolly and $50 and towed her back to the shop.

It’s rougher than a cob and the motor’s shot (350,000). The only decent panel on it is the driver fender and the roof rack looks like it came of an early 70 station wagon but it has.....

    2 new WANLI 12"ers,
A battery that’s less than a year old,
    It’s a factory A/C car,
Full coverage trim panels and driver’s door map pocket (right side pocket gone),
Rear defroster glass with dash switch,
    New fuel pump,
Good smoothie tail lamps (been patiently waiting for these),
    Tach cluster,
About $3.50 in loose change and a new quart of 5W-30

Best of all.... The Ford logo pop-up sunroof -TOO COOL!!!

If you consider the quart of oil would run $2, then add that to the change in the floor, I picked up the car for $44.50. WOO-HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

This may be the car I’ve been wanting for my custom trailer project.

What year is it? It has a 90-93 grille, but smooth taillights? I would of guessed a 1990 L+ but with the smooth taillights, might be a different story. Nice clean car tho!

Car is a '91 but if you could see how rough the car was you'd understand how the t'lamps might have needed to be replaced in the past. It's also got those annoying electric seatbelts. The photo doesn't show the condition very well and the white paint helps hide it even more.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't thinking that myself as I drove away!! But that's the best deal there is for sure.... We were both happy and both felt we made the better deal. Man!! don't you wish the whole world worked this way?

Sweet score. Reminds me of the one I picked up a few weeks ago....paid $100 for it, and found a $25 gift cert. from outback steakhouse in it while cleaning it out!

Right! But if they're good I'll need them for the trailer project. I could scrap the Cat converter and be clear. No, might need that. Maybe the battery. No, you never know when you can use a battery. Maybe the ribbed taillamps that will be replaced by my new smoothies. No, might need them too.

Man!! Guess I'll just have to be happy at being in the red on this one.

                            Awesome!

I had a similar find once. It was a black 88L that was sitting on a corner, marked "FREE". The body and interior were basically ruined but it ran when I installed a new fuel pump.

Parted it out and got $150 for the motor, plus a bunch of parts my other Festivas needed.

Also had a $50 Festy that was in an accident with a deer... fixed and drove it for a year, then sold the car for $350 when the tranny blew.

You can easily make your $50 investment back on eBay! Congrats on the find.
