  • New Guy....

Hi All. I'm new to the forum. I've been researching Festys for a couple weeks now and am looking to purchase one as a commuter car (drive 90 miles a day). I have a couple questions and would really appriciate any other advice you could give.

    1. How much should I expect to pay for a Festy in good running condition?
    2. Are they pretty easy to work on? I'm not a mechanic, but I'm a "do it yourselfer" and can find my way around the garage ok...

    Thanks,
    Mike

yo!! good to see the comunity is growing by leaps and bounds.

figure between 600 and 1000 for a good festy
SSOOO easy to work on, i'd say even a pleasure compaired to todays cars.
    Trees aren't kind to me...

    currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

        Thanks

Thanks guys. I found a guy on CL selling a blue 92, manual trans, with 50k miles for $500 in Western MD. He says the only thing wrong with it is it over heats but doesn't know why. Any ideas or things to look out for?

Welcome!! The Festy is horrible to work on, nothing fits, parts are nowhere, and mechanics charge double when they have one in thier shop, so if you find a good cheap one tell me and I'll buy it. LOL
Again, Welcome. Lots of help available here if you need it.

Super Easy to work on! Best car you will every buy

over heating could be any of the normal things, water pump, head gasket, etc.

Just to give you some perspective on how easy they are to work on, I put a new water pump on my car Tuesday after school, took around 2 hrs, and then ended up pulling the head off to do a HG yesterday and it took me an hour to have it ready to run to the shop, ran to the shop and got it resurfaced and now am waiting on the HG to arrive at autozone so I can slap it back together. Yep, super easy!
