  • Bringing a 92 home Saturday

Picked up this red 92 GL off Craig's List. Bringing it home tomorrow. Includes original bill of sale, Owner's manual and documents including the plastic emergency key. All service records too.
99% rust free. Clean inside. Actually has the cargo cover intact. Will need a little engine work. It is v-e-r-y s-l-u-g-g-i-s-h on acceleration. Otherwise runs fine. Going to pi** off a few folks at stoplights on the way home. Anxious to diagnose the ailment.

Hey Charlie, Nice ride! If it is running fine, but no power,I would suggest checking the cat. May hear a loud "whoosh"ing sound. Hope this works, I'm broadcasting from my new Blackberry.

That's the one. $600 was the "no dicker sticker" price but IMHO it's worth that. It turned cold here again today so I wasn't able to do any trouble shooting on the sluggishness.

Dan, the cat converter is on the list. Thanks.

I'm thinking on this approach: Vacuum gauge diagnosis, ignition timing and advance, cam timing, Vane Air Meter for proper function and signal output. Compression, etc.

It's an automatic :-( and shifts well. The car runs out tight. Steering, shocks, and brakes good. AC compressor bypassed with a shorter belt. (I have a new one on the shelf) Oil leak at valve cover gasket. Probably needs a proper thermostat. Pin-striped interior has no tears and only one small cig burn in back cushion. Oh, and the windows are hard to raise. No kidding. Typical dings here and there and a little hail damage ton the roof.

Car has a partial repaint for some minor collision damage. The tailgate is still orig with the decals. Looks to have had only three owners before me and was bought new not 10 miles from here but all owners live within a 60 mile radius. I did a flashlight and mirror inspection. I can't believe it is a rust free as it is being a rust-belt car. Just a little spot forward of the left rear wheel arch.

No plans for any mods at this time. I've been working on my blue 90 for more time than I've driven it. It's time to drive.

I'll post pix as I can and will be attending any Festtyfests within a couple hundred miles if I can.
