  • I'm thinking the market is heating up

I talked to a friend this morning out in Southern Oregon. He buys and sells metros like I do. He hasn't had a sale in months, and feeling discouraged because of it. I kept telling him to wait out the winter, people don't buy much while it's cold, and the tanked economy isn't helping. This morning a person called out of the blue, test drove one of his 3/5's and paid cash on the spot. $1650 profit.

I've also been noticing festivas and metros creeping up a few hundred bucks on craigslist. This is just my general feeling, but we might be at the end of this bargin season.

I say raise gas prices and bring it on!!! I've got a back yard full of econonboxes needing homes!....

Around here gas has been creeping up to almost $2 per gallon. I don't think gas will rise as quickly or as far as last summer, but it will rise. OPEC has adjusted and between last summer's shock and the economy I think we've cut petro usage about as far as it will be cut.

Oil is being stockpiled in tankers offshore because there's no room on land. It should stay under $2.50 per gallon over summer, methinks.

I don't think it'll be back to $4 per gallon any time soon.

I think you're prolly right safe, my guess is closer to three bucks summer, enough to remind peeps that 17 MPG won't cut it.

Yeah, on Friday night, gas was $1.85 and then at 5am as I was headed to work, it was at $1.91, so it's definitely creeping.

Gas is $1.90 in Lebanon, PA right now. I predict it will go up to $3.80-$4 by summer.

I usually put in 8 gallons on empty and it takes about $15-17.

Just tried to run my '90 out of gas. Carried a gas can and set off on an 80 mile jaunt. Finally got back to where I usually buy gas, had 341 miles on that tank and took 9.6 gallons to fill and it still hadn't run out. I'm a little leery of running that long with gas level that low, though, as I've heard it shortens the life of the fuel pump by letting it get hot.
Anyway, gas was $2.119 and the total was just over 20 bucks. Only 36mpg, though, down from 41-45. Maybe I need to change air filter, plugs, wires, etc. I usually do lots better than that on my 1100 Virago.

Cost me $17.90 US today to fill up from almost empty (9.1 gallons). That'll get me 415 miles.

I've given up on the poor gas mileage vehicles, although I still have one farm pickup truck that gets about 15 MPG; it sits in the shed unless there's a load to haul or deep snow.

I have the Festiva (44 MPG), and 5 motorcycles which range from 40 to 55 MPG. I'll probably be buying some smaller bikes and ease my "fleet mileage" up into the 50s if I can.

Gas prices may not go up fast, but they're not going anywhere BUT up. I'll be ready!
