Considering my region, Metro St. Louis, is $300 too much to pay for a 1.3 Aspire engine? Guy in salvage yard says it may or may not run. Best I would be able to do before buying is crank it over by hand or if I bring a battery, with the starter. 132000 miles on the odometer - complete as it comes out of the car, starter, alternator, ECU, VAFM etc.? The hood has been closed and the engine is reasonably grease and dirt free.

$300 would be high for the "may or may not run" but it depends if they have a short waranty... our local JY complete engines are $250 with 30 day warranty.

I think I'll pass on it. If I knew the 300 would make my car whole again <grin> with no more engine expenses for a while, I'd be closer to considering it.

i think i'm picking up a complete 93 escort GT for $300 (runs rough?) clean title.Trees aren't kind to me...
currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),

Yes. Thursday afternoon it was still in one piece. Speedway Salvage. This was is in pretty good condition but has severely smashed windshield. Looks like a goose strike. (?) They have several Aspires and three twin cam Capris. Going to be a nice weekend so there will be a lot of scavengers. Better get there fast.Originally posted by genghis1 View PostComment
