  • Lucky Day--Alternator

As some of you know, I have been in dire need of a new alternator. I posted a WTB thread on here a couple weeks ago, to no avail. I finally bit the bullet and went to Advance Auto Parts and ordered a new one yesterday at $149 + $50 core. I was planning on getting the bearings and changing them out on Cherry's alt., so I decided to trade in Silver Bullet's alt. because it is totally shot. I brought it in this morning as a core when I picked up the new one, when it turned out Silver Bullet's was an Advance Auto Lifetime Warranty alternator. Long story short, I got the new one for free! Yippee!! :laughing6: I forgot I bought a new alt for Silver Bullet a year or so before it was parked. You all have no idea how glad I am to have saved $150.

years ago, I was lucky enough to happen into a roll of Ford/RMP warranty stickers. RMP was Ford's remanufactured parts line, and offered a lifetime warranty. The stickers had special adhesive on them, and would seld-destruct if removed. I don't know how many parts on my '86 T-Bird Elan were replaced free of charge due to those stickers...
