so yeah after all the crap i have gone through with carb isues the car had to be towed home yet AGAIN this morning, now its a new problem where it only stays running for about 10 seconds after you start it then it dies, couldnt get it going, ive had it with this pile, a pile with only 97k on it, i feel so blessed:angry4: its not worth all of this crap for the carb work, new fuel pump, replacing a fouled out plug, etc ive had to put into it in only a week, if it wasent illegal id throw a gallon of gas on it, light it on fire and drink myself stupid.

so thanks to all the people who welcomed me to the board and to the one person who responded on my carb issues, who knows maybe sometime in the future ill pick another one up.. but after this fiasco i seriously doubt it, later

Sorry to hear about all the troubles, man....you must have gotten the one bad apple. I've owned four of these cars and not run into as many issues as you have in a week. I'll bet someone here would still like to help you either fix the car or buy it to help defray your costs.

Dont give up man!! If you put in your profile where you really live someone might be able to help you. I help people all the time shoot I just drove an hour to put a distributer in a car for someone. I made a new friend and helped keep another little car on the road. There are lots of people on here that would be willing to help.
If your dead set on giving up Im sure someone on here would buy your car. Dont send it to the srap yard.

just took the time to pull the plugs, one of the ones i replaced this weekend was completly fouled out. after just pulling them a few minutes ago now 2 are completely fouled out after only 2 days, motors shot or possibly the valve seals, either way its headed to the junkyard as soon as i pull my deck out of it, and as i love to repeat myself, all this at only 97k, that's pathetic

I hope you will be patient and let somewone from here come get it. Please. It is so easy to swap a motor in a festiva. It would be a shame to send it to the scrapper. REALLY you got a rare example. I have never heard of a festiva engine going with that few miles on it.

unibody is pretty rusty underneath, its primerd black, interior is rough, LOTS of dents.. the body itself isnt worth an engine swap.. even with all of this damage no milleage descrepencies came up through the previous owners from when it was registered, its just a lemon, unless someone REALLY wants this thing... if i take pics though you'll change your mind....

                Hey Festivabeater,

Don't crush it. Send me a pic or three. I'm in Des Moines. The crusher isn't going to give you anything for it. I can come get it. I'm busy until this weekend.

If Festivabeater and I can come to some kind of agreement, do any of Chicago guys or JoDan or anybody else want to meet up for breakfast in Davenport?

I doubt people will change their minds, post picks, someone near you would probably be willing to help you out. And if you are bent on selling it someone will find something useful in it.

Damn, sounds just like the last owner of the silver tiva (89L) I bought.
He swore there was no way I was going to drive it home, Tossed in a spare distributor and a coil (was missing), turned the key and drove away.
This car had the EXACT same issue your having now. Would start run, die. After repeated cranking, pumping the gas, etc... when (if) it would fire it would foul plugs from all the gas.
After a 40ish mile drive home I looked it over, changed the oil and took it for a drive on the back roads, ran great, no noise, no smoke. This motor and 5 spd trans will be in my nicer festiva very soon.

The carbed models CAN have hassles in my experience, though my 89 has had zero problems for 55k now (fron the 120K I bought it with) This probably won't help on many levels, but there is a fuse under the dash (in the block) that seems to affect the carb quite a bit. I had a nice black 89 last year I could not get to run correctly, finally after replacing the carb and other trouble shooting, discovered the fuse (suggested here) and problem solved. As far as I know the fella is still driving it all over Chicago and loving the MPG.

if you really want to ill take pics, and a local yard pays 40 bucks for ANYTHING that they come get, i still have a full tank of gas in it too, even comes with a spare carb, and if you are seriously motivated my friends dad has TWO others that also have fried engines, on FI one carb'd, both manuals, hes looking to junk them though i doubt he cares who wants them, i can talk to him if you want.

this weekend is no good though if someone wants it, ill be in milwaukee till sun.
