  • I bought an 89 Suzuki Samari today...

...for $400 bucks. The tires are like new (and bolt on my 4wd Toyota van rims and all) They're worth $300 right there. Other than a dead battery and a potential nightmare of California paperwork to deal with, I couldn't pass it up. I love all the other Suzuki vehicles (Metros, motorcycles, etc.) and always thought the sammies were cute and fun looking. Does anyone know anything about them other than "they tip over easy" and "they're gutless."

Manual aisen hubs, hi/low 4WD, needs a top. I hear they get decent MPG too.

Great....another car to drive across country!!!!....

    Because....45 MPG.

A guy I work with has one and he loves it. He said he has gotten 40 mpg with it, but I don't believe that. I don't think they can do that well.

You would have to lengthen the frame in order to put a Festiva body on it. I already looked in to that. IIRC the Festiva has 12in or so longer wheel base. Anyway that is a great deal for $400. The 16valve sidekick motor is what everyone swaps in those for more power.

samurai's are sooo sick. My friend just finished his build. Those things can go just about anywhere stock, and even more insane stuff when modded. Have fun with it!

Here is his build. All the cage and bumpers were fabbed by him and his dad. he did this for his senior project.

very cool! I'm thinking I'll keep it. I have three other 4wd vehicles (toyota van, 4wd tercel wagon and a toyota truck) but there's something different about the sammie isn't there.

                  thanks for the feedback!

Blue, I'll be leaving it here in Nor-Cal until June, then taking it to Black Rock for an adventure, then Mn. You'll see it no doubt...

                              Samurai

I have had 3 Samurai's, and I was never able to get more than 30, and thats really hard to do. I wish they would get 40, but hey, 30 mpg with 4x4, thats not too bad.
