Yes but the products surveyed in that study were Blue Oval models when they were designed/manufactured.

I liked Land Rovers until I owned a 98 Discovery. Of course, it was made when LR was owned by BMW. Like most British vehicles, it had numerous electrical problems. I was glad to see Ford bought Land Rover and expected grand things until I saw the boxy, ugly designs they came up with. I also heard that quality wasn't much better. When they sol LR to Tata Motors, I wasn't really that sorry to see it go. I have no idea what Tata will do with LR, but it may be interesting to see where it leads.

Anymore, I would have to agree. However, I would still like to get my hands on an old Defender.

Hey Jim - I wonder how much of the equation is that Buick and Jag has gotten better - not that Toyota has slipped that far down. (I still think you can't go to wrong with a Toyota.)

It's both sides. Domestic quality has been on a steady rise for the last 5-6 years, and Toyota has been on a bumpy downward slide for about the same amount of time. I get to work fairly closely with Central Atlantic Toyota, so I get to see the vehicle problems they encounter. The number of problems per vehicle has been steadily increasing, but the issues jump from vehicle line to vehicle line. They're over-extended on production, they can't afford to do anything about it, and they're too proud and stubborn to admit it. Even the dyed-in-the-wool corporate Toyota guys are feeling the heat, and starting to sweat...

I have a 2006 Buick Rendevous CXL in the garage with 50K....The ergonomics are so so....I still haven't figured out the climate control...and the radio has more buttons than the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM)....other than that....totally flawless. I'm not thrilled about the fly by wire or DIC...but performs unbelievable...the AWD kicks.

Jim...so true about Toyota...something has to give when you drop the price and go into mass production.
