  • What would a Mercury "Festiva" be named?

I have a Mercury Tracer steering wheel and front seats for Luxstiva. I think there are a couple other parts as well, so I'm toying with the idea of creating a "Mercury" version.

I could get Mercury Tracer (newer model, since I have the Aspire hub upgrade) 14 X 5.5" alloys and some Mercury badging.

Allow me to cover what I don't like from "littler" Mercuries in the past:

Bobcat: I just don't like either this or Ford's name.

Comet: It was a smaller car, but not that small. I don't really like it anyway.

Lynx: I'm just not feeling the love for past Mercury cat names, however...

    What I might like:

"Minx." Hmmm, I may like this cat name. It would be different from any Mercury I know of, unless someone corrects this idea.

"Mouse." Yeah, I know. Not too glamorous! But I like my Spyderco Mouse knife. And the "Mercury Mouse" is quite a funny take.

    "Mouser." He hehe.

    "Mite." Real small sounding. Possibilities.

Lux is red. I do like "Ginger." I really like female gingers, especially with freckles. We had best not go there...

Let the ideas flow! Gimme something I really like.

I've thought about the same thing because I have Tracer LTS wheels on one of my Festivas.

In the interest of overthinking the problem, maybe looking at the relationship between other Ford and Mercury products that share a platform and the relationships between their names would help.

Escort and Tracer. Both have Military applications (Military Escort and Tracer rounds).

Taurus and Sable. Both are references to animals - the Ford is has a Mythical element to it (Zodialogical) and the Mercury has luxurious pelts.

Pinto and Bobcat. Again both animals - not much help there.

Cougar and Thunderbird. Both animals - again the Ford has a mythical quality about it, the Mercury has a luxurious coat.

Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis - both references to Nobility, the Ford a famous Queen, the Mercury a Mercury a lower level of Nobility, but possibly also a reference to a particular pervert. (Marquis De Sade).

So where does that leave us?

It should be something that is similar to a Festiva(L).

                    But more luxurious.

                    A mythical component to it.

May have a certain air of perversion to it.

Perhaps something along the lines of an orgy?

Here is a list of synonyms from Webster's Online Thesaurus that might help.
bacchanal, bacchanalia, bender*, binge*, blowout*, bout*, carousal, circus*, debauch, dissipation, excess, feast, fling*, indulgence, jag*, merrymaking, overindulgence, party, rampage*, revel, revelry, saturnalia, splurge, spree, surfeit, tear*
                    Bacchanal seems about perfect.

                    From Wikipedia:
The bacchanalia were wild and mystic festivals of the Roman god Bacchus (Dionysus in Greek).
It's a Synonym for Festiva(L), it has a mythical component to it, it's wilder, possibly more perverse than a run of the mill Festival.

Since the Festiva drops the last L but adds it as a trim level, technically it should be a Bacchana. Not really obvious how it should be pronounced, but then again Festiva wasn't completely obvious at first either.

So there you go. It's a Mercury Bachana.

This is just one man's interpetation...

I've always loved the name "Vapor" for a car... dunno why. But I did toy with the idea of a "Mercury Vapor" when I was thinking of badging my BP car as a Mercury Vapor LTS (like the tracer LTS), and Mercury Vapor is just funny anyway lol
                      No festiva for me ATM...

                        Hmmm, the "Bachana."

                        I prefer the "Dionysia."

                        I'll think about it.

                        Or how about...the "Mercury Pager!"
