^^ im pretty sure a festivas curb weight is closer to 1868 or something like that.

Well i recently took several parts out of my festiva and weighed them.
(these were weighed with my bathroom scale so the accuracy may be off)

rear bumper support and cover 40 pounds
        rear seatbelts 5 pounds
        passenger seat 31 pounds
        drivers seat 31 pounds
4 rear interior panels 8 pounds
        rear seat 32 pounds
rug ( hard to weigh) 12 pounds
        4 floor mats 9 pounds
        Total 168 pounds

Ya, I'd be interested to know what they'd weigh bare minimum. The weight factor is the main thing that makes these cars have such potential performance-wise. I'm certain that 1598 is closer to it than 1868 although different options and trim levels will make a difference. A/T vs M/T, air conditioning, sunroof...

Oh and btw I have a GVWR of 2645 on my '92. That's kinda funny, since most cars nowadays weigh more than that.

I read in one of the magazine articles put online that the carb'ed were lighter, 1750ish and the efi's depending on options 1800-1900 pounds. If you are over a 36 waist start there heh. Considering the 1.8 DOHC belongs in a car weighing up to 700 pounds more, knocking off a whole second in the quarter miles is some serious foundation to build on.

I went by Wikipedia on that, not sure if it's right. Some junkyards might be willing to weigh you if they have a drive-up scale and you throw 'em a few bucks.

Take it to a recycling yard and weigh your car....or a truck stop.

Ya, GVWR is Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. It's the maximum payload, weight of the vehicle included. Were you in the car when it was weighed? What options and such are in your car. The BP can't add 200 lbs to your car alone. I don't see it even with a heavier tranny. Not imo at least.
