  • Cruised to the JY today... (kind long sorry)

While I was on my way ,about half way there ( about an hour and 15 minute ride) , I was minding my own business. No radio on...windows up...just cruising. I noticed a car passing me and just as it got by, my drivers side window exploded. I about flipped! I have never had anything like that happen before. Sounded like a gun going off.
Luckily the yard I was heading to had a Festy so I kept going instead of turning around. Once I got there I headed to the Festy to find another guy tearing stuff off of it. Talked with him a bit, can you believe he had no clue about our site? The nerve! LOL. He has 2 Festy's and a friend that as one. They are going to check out the site and try to come to Ohiostiva. Well I started looking at the car and noticed no drivers window....I asked the guy if he had just removed it and he said no. So I looked closer and it was down in the door. Someone had removed the regulator and left the window....THANK YOU!!!
Well I discussed some of the stuff you could do with Festy's and mods and he said that he has another buddy that has an RX8 that had recently got blown away by a Festy....lol. Turns out is was modded with a BP from what the guy described to me. He is a Ford mechanic going on 30 plus years and has worked on them since they were new.
    Nice guy...I hope he joins.

I appreciate that....but I am good. I have more windows at the house but I got the one from the yard just so that I didn't have to use the ones I have and to keep my ride warmer then with an open window in 45 degree weather...lol.
Would have been bad if it was pouring out or something...I would have headed home then. Or straight to Brian's and taken his out of the Green car. Or just taken the Green car....hmmmmmm...lol

maybe it was a piece of porcelin, For what ever reason when porcelin hits glass it causes the windows to explode and kind of with a delayed reaction. I know this for a fact i was telling one of my friend in auto class about how the porcelin has a reaction with the glass causeing it to explode, he didnt beleive me so i broke a piece off a spark plug, i just tossed it lightly across the back window ( so not to be obvious to my teacher) it hit bounced off and a moment latter blew out i ended up getting written up that day. ive seen criminals use it to with a piece of porcelin on fishing sting and wack it at windows for easy accese

I've heard of people breaking into cars using sparkplugs. Apparently if you scratch the white part of the plug on the window, it breaks the glass without setting off the alarm.

Odd GD... Were you driving behind my Jeep on Saturday when the window broke?

I was on the way home from taking our UHaul trailer home in the Jeep Saturday afternoon... Just cruising on the highway when I heard a similar sound. It was either a tire blowing or a window shattering, but at 65+ MPH in my Jeep with a breezy hardtop, it was LOUD!

I thought it was one of my tires, so I pulled off to check and everything was fine.

Cool that you found another Festiva nut though! I never seem to find anyone looking in a Festiva while I'm at the JYs...

That is a awesome story , but sorry about the window ??

That is weird , but something must have hit it , not hot enough for a temp related shatter .
