  • How long is to long of a wait??

So mid August I placed a order to Neukin.com for a BP-T ram horn manifold, ive been pretty patient and I have had to make the effort to keep in contact with him every week to get some kind of update. Ian (project B6t) had his manifold made up for him by this shop, and it seems like high quality, real good work so when i had the money i wanted them to make mine. Well i know Ian said the guy was slow i think he waited 3 months, i was ready to wait i was not in a hurry nor am i still, but i think this guy is pass due! before Christmas Alex said he had the manifold tacked up just needed to fisnish it, after christmas i went 2 weeks with out hearing from him, finally established contact with him again after sending a few emails and calling his shop every day. calling there shop is pointless i never once gotten a answer on the phone or a return to my calls its always been emails. well about 2 weeks ago after not hearing from him in a while i finally got an email saying his shop flodded and work had stopped for a while and that he was behind on orders and he still had some customers ahead of me. Like i said i dont need the manifold now, but i dont think i should be having to keep asking for updates and seems like im always last in line. I have about 900 bucks into the manifold with a tial waste gate and EGT bung. I have a few shops by me who could probably easily do this manifold and are widely known for there work like AMS or Sound Performance. What would you huys do? i dont want to make him angry to the point where he dont care and throws the manifold together just to get it out. Ive not yet once said anything negative to him or complained about the turn around i pretty much send the same email each week asking for a update, i do have copys of all are emails back and for but i dont think i want to bore you guys any more.

I hope you didn't pay in full yet. I could understand a deposite but if you got $900 in it, I would be asking a lot more questions. If I got no answers I would be at his door. $900 is a lot to be out for that long!

            It's been 8 months.

For starts, remember, you get more bees with honey than vinegar. You have alot of money out Ricky. And like you said, you don't want the guy to slap it together and get crap in return. I'd contact him and say something to the effect of, "Hey Bob, I don't mean to be a pain, but I think I'd like to go ahead and get a refund on my order." He's going to flip and probably say something like "What!?" with assorted adjectives and adverbs. "Well, now, Bob, I'm very confident you do great work, and other people on the site agree that you do great work, and I totally understand you being very busy. But we are putting a real big dent in a year since I ordered it and still don't have it back. Spring is here and I need to get that motor buttoned up. Unfortunately, not having this manifold is causing a little bit of a hold up for me. To be honest, I'd really rather have the manifold on my car so I can brag to my buddies about the excellent work you've done."

The technique is called build-burn-build. Build him up, burn him for not having your part, and build him back up again.

Remember, you don't care about the path of travel, you care about reaching your destination. Using the above path will get you to your destination the fastest and least uncomfortable, in the long run.

^^^^ And if that doesn't work. Burn him on line. Word travels fast when a shop pulls crap like this. His business will suffer more than it already has.
