  • cool story from an old festiva owner

i've got a part time job working at the local mall this week and as i was pulling in i spotted a red festiva L, and i thought "should i go leave a note?" but decided that i needed to eat my T-bell before i went to work.

so i headed to my area of the lot to park and i see another festiva but its a 93 teal GL. well i parked way out next to it and was writing a quick not to the owner when i hear someone tapping on my window. i look and this old guys saying to me "looks like they found each other". it was his car and we got to talk for a little bit. his name is Virgil Hall and told me that he had seen my car the day before, and i told him i've seen his car a round town and that i've always thought it was in great shape.

i asked if he was the first owner and he said no that it was a rental car and was wrecked with 5k miles on it and was considered totaled. (crazy i know). soon after that his nephew bought it and fixed it up and sold it to him. hes had it since 5,000 miles, and it only has 73,000! i told him "Virgil its barely broken in!". it has some rust and a few dings and dents but is in otherwise great shape. i gave him my number if he ever needed parts and told him about he site (but i don't think he much of an internet type)

it was great to talk to him about his car. i hope to get the chance again when i'm not so rushed.

          Great story!

Looking at that picture, I am so jealous. That's the color my car is supposed to be. It was repainted before we picked it up to a darker green and I want to have it painted back original so bad! I'm hoping we can get it done before Ohiostiva. (fingers crossed)

          Thanks for posting the pictures.

Nice story, we need more people to take care of these cars like that.

                    not teal

That colour is Cayman Green Metallic. I have a 93 with exactly the same paint. Here's mine after I got rid of the ugly green bumpers.

I will be putting on that 1/4" red pin stripe on the bumpers, when the weather warms up a bit.

I presume your Festiva's the red one in the photo's.

Where did you get the wheels from? I found a couple of 13" with that pattern of holes in a ditch, but that's another story (I fell through a bramble bush and looked like a colander after I pulled the thorns out). They had 145/70s on them when I found them and I'd like to know what car they originated from.

That is great !! Nice pictures !
It seems like you all seem to find these Festivas, I just do not see them much in our more rural areas, have to just by luck happen to see one occassionally. Should save them all I think though, great built cars ........
