  • something i've noticed on this web site.....

    it is truly amazing here,

if someone wants to try something different, or to be different and stand out in a crowd of modded Festivas, people here like to put down the B3 and opt for the higher engines B6 and up.

or people will say you are crazy if you want to try something new in the modification realm, especially to the B3.

so when i overhauled my B3, and slightly modded it. I DID NOT SAY A WORD IN THIS WEB SITE, knowing that someone with WAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more experience than me (this being my third overhaul of a B3) would ask me why. when i could drop in a B6 and get more horsepower for the same amount of cash (plus the cost of a descent B6 from the J/Y.............idiots!!!)

geeeee, when i did my brake swap, i didn't have any guidelines of a write up on the subject, i just saw that Cam Wahl did it on his so i decided to do mine, not sure if he was the first or not. but i did it with a little trial and error.

I do like seeing those who want to mod the B3 or go outside the box with a 3.1 liter GM V6 stuffed in back.

i will always tell people to try it, get dirty, who knows what might happen?? if someone doesn't try something new and succeed or fail then we would be stuck with boring little cars like the Geo metro.

end of soap box preaching for now

oh and by the way, it only cost me $400 to mod my B3 and install it.............................suckers:p:p:p:p

I noticed that the B3 is not as popular, it seems, as the B6. I, for one, plan to stick with the B3 because I am not looking to really upgrade because I like the B3 and don't want the hassle of upgrading to a B6. (However, I DO have another idea for an engine swap, but I have been hush about it for the same reason you mention.)

$400 is great. The cheapest overhaul kit I can find is $600.

Lol, I thought I was the only one....

I know of many that WILL NOT post here for the exact reasons.

I have asked about a larger engine than the 1.8, in a pm was told by a long time member here that nope, 1.8 is it foget it your stupid if you try and the whole thing was borderline abusive.

At this point in time I have only done a handful of small mods, a few that I cannot find any info on this forum, I will more than likely never post about them here as a couple go "against the grain" that is followed here.

Please don't get me wrong as I have met some way cool peeps from here, its just the modding world is not limited to what will just bolt in and something everyone else has or is doing.

I understand that many things may not get posted on this site... but you have to remember EVERYONE has an opinion about something..when others have posted on their exotic fabrications and engine swapping I find it very interesting and innovative and commend them.
I rebuilt my B3, for around $400 (pieced it together, not a kit) as well, and for the experience, i LOVED it, as i'd never done an engine rebuild.

I don't want anyone to be hindered posting their progress on this forum, for a couple of people that will disagree with them... thats not the overall intent.. this is supposted to be FUN! that my 0.02

Most people who come here asking how to get more power out of their b3 ARE better off just dropping in a bolt in b6. For a few hundred$'s you get a nice jump in power without any of the custom fab and the rebuild costs.

Nothing wrong with modding a b3 but most of us wouldn't waste the time doing it. That's where the criticism is coming from.

Okay people, here is the key
To modding and rodding the lowly B3.

You don't need to hide it
                            You don't need to lie.

                            The trick's so darn easy
                            You'll just wonder why

                            You didn't think it
                            Instead of I!

                            You take your ideas
                            Write them all down.

                            A turbo, a valve job
                            Funny gas from a clown?

                            These will be laughed at
                            We all have no doubt!

                            Build it in secret?
                            Someone'll find out!

                            So after your list
                            Is written complete

                            Post it all up
                            And say it is neat!

Watch the hoots and the hollers
                            Scream and shout:

                            But a B6 is better!
Or better yet a BPT with nitrous and a body kit which lowers the CX to .0032 and batteries like a Tesla roadster and custom supermodels dressed in sexy lingerie which was on TV last night while I was drinking a beer and eating potato chips and salsa with onions, while my friend's uncle who built a jet fighter plane...

                            Blah blah blah!!

                            Why should you worry?
                            Why should you mind?

                            Are you in a hurry
                            To respond in kind?

Just let it all run off
                            Your back like a duck.

                            Repeat after me:
                            Why should I givva ????

                            The key to this quandary
                            Is easier than sin.

                            You don't need to cry
YOU JUST NEED SOME THICK SKIN!
