My 1990 Festiva was impounded for illegal exhaust, noise pollution, and expired registration. I had to let it go over $1400 in fines and $500 in towing fees. I almost cried but ill move on. I might get a MR2 to replace it.

Worst that would happen here in NE would be a fix-it ticket for both the exhaust and the unregistered vehicle. They give us 10 days to bring it into compliance. I wish we had a law against the thumping bass sub-woofers that rattle your windows from 3 blocks away. That is more annoying to me than any exhaust.
Don't know if it's possible in LA, but if it were here, I would wait until the next annual Sheriff's auction and have a buddy buy it back for about $200!Brian
