  • I had some visitors today...

I had just finished replacing a window regulator, when two little birds flew inches from me, through the open door to hang out inside the car. After snapping a couple cell phone pictures I had to open the hatch to get them out. The surprising part of it was how close they came to me. I don't know birds, so I'm not sure what they are. I think it's the same bird in both photos. The other one wouldn't stay still long enough for me to get a picture.
Perched on some random fiberglass mat:

    And on the door:

    1988 Chevy Caprice Classic

Hey, it's not like I sent 'em an invitation! :p
I guess, though, given the current torn apart condition of my interior, it probably did look like a giant nest.

Those aren't Finches....they are french fry birds. They usually hang out at the fast food places waiting for a fix.

I think that is awesome! It is very rare to be able to get that close with nature. Then to even have TWO birds fly into your car while you're working on it just makes the situations more fascinating!

You know, there are superstitions about birds flying into a house, but I searched the internet and didn't find anything about birds flying into a car.

Personally, when something like this happens to me, I take it as a sign that you are being visited by loved ones who have died. That's what my grandmother used to tell me when I was growing up and it has stuck with me ever since.

Now the practical part of me thinks that these birds have probably been hand fed by some elderly person in the area and they saw you out and thought you would feed them too.

Either way, I think it's a very cool experience! And it's a cool story to tell!
