  • Where to put the jack?

    Lol.
    Sorry for the lame question.

Where do I put the jack to jack up the fron end?

I remember someone telling me if I put it in the wrong spot I could screw up the car pretty badly.

    Thanks,
    Matt

the whole front or a side? I wouldn't trust the stock scissor jack to hold up the whole thing safely

I've got one of those big jacks with wheels and the long handle. It has the little tea dish sized plate to put under the car.

I guess I really only need to get under the drivers side.

If you have a bigger roll around jack place it under the main engine brace right before the sway bar. There should be a perfect spot for it....if your brace bar is rotted out i would go jack it up on the pinch weld. Refer to your owners manual for proper placement.

I always use the tie downs on the bottom, from when they were shipped over, they used the metal things under for them... (i hope this helps)

The Owner's Guide shows the OEM scissors jack points as a "crinkle" in the lower flange of the rocker panels. Just behind the front wheel opening about where the door hinge line is and about the same distance in front of the rear wheel opening. Also suggests blocking the diagonally opposite wheel both in front of and behind the wheel.

If I did that , my car would crack open like a egg ..LOL

Slowly , day by day as I hit the Decatur bumps , my car gets lighter and lighter , as my pinch welded area under the rockers loses little pieces every day .
              Really .

That's why i said inspect the arae to see if it is solid.....jack may goes throught the rocker just like Doug's case. If I'm lifting the whole rear, i put it under the bracket under the beam suspension, and inthe front: the nub in front of the sway bar.

For a regular floor jack, I've always used the towing points, on all four corners.

Be sure to use jack stands, after you get it up (in the air-sicko)
