New F-150

The wife and I are thinking of trading in her mazda3 for one of these new F-150s. Both of us have grown up with the f series and never had problems. plus the 0% financing its like free money. We are looking at a crew cab short box in the xlt trim. add ons being locking diff, towing pkg, sliding rear window and fog lamps. 5.4L is a must.

Thoughts? Concerns? Any of the Ford guys have tips?

I hope they changed the engine and transmission from whatevers in the 2004 model. What a POS! The transmission in the 1 we use at work went out after 46000 and the 4.6 or whatever it is, is a slug. Now in fairness this truck gets VERY limited highway use and rarely goes over 20 MPH. Every so often Ill take it out on the highway to stretch its legs and it has never impressed me from day 1.

Yeah trannys all new. Im goin with the 5.4 not the 4.6 because i agree it is a slug.

We have a dog and go camping lots in the back forty. We are planning on getting a trailer too. The fester will be for running around in town.
