  • 1993 drivetrain in 1990 Shell

I've got a 1990 Festiva with 5spd that has a toasted clutch & bad head gasket, plus the engine has been overheated. I pulled the engine & trans out with plans of getting them fixed & reinstalled.

I came across a cheap 1993 Festiva with good running drivetrain & 5 spd. Is this a difficult swap? Are there many differences between the electrical for the 2 engines?

if they are both FI they are the same and well it's not that hard just make sure you keep track of where everything goes...

Since they're both 90-93' Festivas they would both be FI, I think everything would be the same between the 2 cars..
-93' L BP swap/e-series, coilovers, RIO front swap, redrilled festy drums, Miata 14" 7 spokes.
-88' Mazda 323 SE, work in progress..
      -85' Nissan Sentra 5 spd.

Nice. The 93 is pretty cheap so I'm thinking of using that engine instead of fixing mine. Then there's always the hassle of having one more car around...haha

From what I learned from FB71, it is a nessecity that you have the '93 crank pulley. It is a one year only piece.

March 1992 built date Festivas are like all 1993 Festivas. The front crank seal is larger and the crank pulley is the same as a general rule.

Just a note 94, 95, 96, 97 Aspire short blocks can be used in March 92 built Festivas and all 93 Festivas.

Once you install your later Festiva engine, would be best to tell the parts store you have a 93 Festiva.
