  • 6000 Miles in a Ford Festiva

    Hello Everyone

As some of you know at the end of the month I am taking Amanda on a major road trip out west to see a little part of what I love.

I would really appreciate it if you would all follow my blog:

Blogger is a blog publishing tool from Google for easily sharing your thoughts with the world. Blogger makes it simple to post text, photos and video onto your personal or team blog.

It will have daily updates during our trip, and leading up to our leave date it should have pretty constant updates on what is going on concerning the car, me, or worries about the trip. Also I will post up the full route sometime this week and would love if I could gather contact information from fellow festiva lovers along the route. I would have hardly any time to hang out but if you wanted to meet up for a quick bite to eat, and/or a picture that would be cool. If I brake down I may need a hand, hopefully not!

I like your list - you've got a great deal covered and I'm sure you'll be able to stuff all that in the Festy.

We've taken to getting all of our camping condiments at the gas stations, fast food joints and supermarket delis. There's no point in keeping things like mustard, ketchup and mayo in the cooler when they come in neat little prepackaged foil envelopes.

We've also taken to using more and more canned goods. This is mostly to keep us from digging around in the cooler, which should really only hold dairy, raw meat and drinks. And most of those drinks are pre-frozen water bottles which help keep everything else cold.

This is the trip we wanted to take last summer, but we were overcome by events and had to cancel it about a month before we were supposed to leave. Hopefully, next year we'll be heading for the 4 Corners area (now moved 2 1/2 miles for your convenience!)

You're coming right by the festiva ranch, I'll give you a tour of the ranch and show you some real festivas for $1.00. Thats a dollar per festiva.

I will be coming back through missouri on my way back, it will probably be pretty late I think on the 9th of July. It is 9 hours from Denver to dearborn, would be a good place to stop for a bit and rest before night driving. I would love to see the festiva ranch, it has always been one of those things in the back of my mind I would love to see.

Send me your contact info and I will try ploting some people on my google map for the trip.

Logan -- If you can, try to see Yellowstone Park, and definitely the Tetons mountain range near Jackson Hole, Wyo.
Not sure if you might be going that way, but if you can pass thru, you would love it. I tell ya ...God's country ! What the west was years back. If you can get to a secluded spot, I love to think back 130 years as to what our nations was, out this way.
Just a suggestion. I think Montana, Idaho, also has a lot of beauty too. I'm sure there are lots others --

MJD, I will check out my blog! haha. We will work our way down from Glacier, to bozeman, to yellowstone, down the Wind River, WY, then down to Lyman, before heading over to Moab Ut, etc.

I always felt like I should have been born 130 years ago. I love it out there, so peaceful quiet, not to many people, and beautiful!

Wonderful road trip, you should have a great time.

I once hunted through websites and maps of Montana looking for some of the best roads. after doing the road trip I wrote up a short newsletter story that described some of the routes we took. It might help you refine your plans a bit. The Word file is called PCA Montana shrt, at this website:
                      http://www3.telus.net/d_jed127/
I can especially recommend routes 15, 287 and 89, traveling up the east side of the Rockies, from Helena to Glacier National Park. Not sure what your current route plan is on the eastern side, but it is worth changing to this one on the east side.
                      Enjoy the trip!

Most of the pictures are there if your interested. Some were taken with my cell so the quality is bad, others are bad because I am not a good photographer with a little fuji handheld camera and quick snap picture taking.
