  • Free beer, easy money and hot chicks!!!

Now that I have your attention, accept my apologies for the trick...

I need to get as many views on this post so I can try to find this part. For some reason I have not been able to locate the part anywhere and no one seems to have anything to sell to me. Local junk yards are practically useless.

So here it is... I need the "s" shaped hardline that connects the receiver/dryer to the condenser (this is for the Dealer Installed A/C system for my 88 lx festy.)

I have posted in my A/C thread and in the WTB section but no hits so this is what I have to resort to.

Please take a look in your stash of festy parts or in your fleet of festys and see if you have what I need.

I am ready to buy now and pay handsomely.......I need this part asap.

It will look similar to the line depicted below. "Similar"- not exactly, as you will note that the part that connects to the condenser is a bit up the line. Mine connects right at the base of the condenser and at the top of the receiver/dryer...

Didn't realize you were looking for the part from a dealer installed system. My Festy has factory air. Sorry.

At this point I've purchased another A/C set up but it was off of an efi car and I do not think it will cooperate with my carbed car. If I can find a complete working system out of a carbed car, I'll take it. I'd prefer to just get the part but I'll take what I can get.

Sure you don't want to just sell me your A/C set up... It will bring you good Karma.:p And some cash too...

I bet the only difference between the EFI set-up and the carb'ed setup is an extra air-bleed solenoid that feeds extra air into the intake when the compressor is on... to stop an idling engine from stalling under the added load...

Could be wired in parallel right into the compressor clutch wires... I'll check the electrical schematics and see if thats the case.

I live in BFE. Apparently impossible here. Even tried to go to a local hose shop to have an A/C hose made instead of the hardline and they could not match the fitting that goes to the condenser.

In fact in my other A/C set-up the ends are different sizes on both of the receiver/dryers (Basically making the DEALER A/C and the FACTORY A/C incompatible....)

Anyone have this item or another idea of how I can get this A/C working?

Do you know the thead size of the 90 degree fitting that you can't find? If i'm reading this right. That fitting is all you need to finish this. Your local shop can make the line. But they don't have the fitting. Am i right?

                        To answer the questions:

ejp2fast: yes, a line can be custom made. I found a place that want's $75 plus me paying shipping back and forth of my condenser and receiver so that they can match the parts. Kinda pricey.

mechanicaldj: The hurry is that while this car is down (w/o A/C) we cannot use it as it's too hot and we can't get to school/work all sweaty. The other issue is that while the car is down, we have to drive the 10mpg Expedition about 100 miles per day. The other day it took $25 to put 1/4 tank. I can't afford to have that pig on the road when I have a perfectly good gas sipper sitting idle in the driveway.

Festiva_tunner: I did. I went to the hose house in Corbin, KY and they had one of the two fittings necessary to make me a line. They said they did not have the fitting, could not find one, and could not order one...

drof 89: You are correct. See above answer for details.

At this point I have a complete "dealer" A/C system sans this line. I also have a mostly complete(i think) "factory" A/C off of an EFI car and do not know if it's compatible as most everything is different.
