  • Bought my "new" Festiva Fetcher!

Paying a tow truck to haul home dead Festivas can get expensive. So I picked this up for $300! I drove it the twenty miles home doing 60 MPH, No problems. I'm looking for the coil spring bracket to correct the lean in the front end.

Nice! You got a trailer, or dolly for it? Love those 70s Ford Trucks. Kind of wonder if they can ever be killed. My grand dad had one of those, body was literally tied together in places with baling wire, but it ran like a top.

I miss my truck. '86 F100. The engine died and I was forced to junk it. Every time I go parts hunting, I kick myself for not getting it fixed.

Yes, its an early '78. I bought it from the original owner with just over 100K miles on it. the Wisconsin winters were not too kind to the body but its not terrible. The 300ci motor will last forever if you keep the oil changes regular. I had a '79 F-150 with the same motor that had over 300K miles on it before the frame rusted in half. My '94 F-150 had the same motor and it had 250K before the idiot in the 80K pound semi rear ended us. I don't have a trailer but I'm working on a tow bar that will quickly hook to the front of any Festiva. I'll get pics up when it's done!

That 300 motor is a great engine.

                    Lots of pulling power.

Nice score! Gotta love a cheap running truck. A guy gave me his broke down F-150 a year ago for doing the intake gaskets on his Beretta (3100 V6 = P.I.T.A. to work on). Within 10 minutes of looking at the truck I realized the only problem was stripped/loose bolts at the starter, one of which was a ground connection. 22 cents at the hardware store and 10 minutes of work later I was good to go. I sold it for a nice profit, but I should have kept it.

Good job on your new truck. I am partial to the early 70's ones. I call them "Uncle Jessies," especially if they are in white. Cheap truck to clean up nice and cruise. Shoulda bought one instead of my 10k ranger but oh well.

Hahaha yeah I have an 81f100 that I loved but when I got it it was smoking out the dipstick and valve cover breather. So I bought a used engine and just never got to fixing it. So 4yrs later here I am in Iraq with the truck and motor still sitting at my parents house. I will never fix it but dang I wish I had.
