  • A festiva broke down on me, 1st time ever.

After well over half a million festiva miles I had one quit on me today. Details to follow..got to go get it now. It wasn't the festiva's fault. It was either a faulty fuel filter or a faulty owner/installer.

Hope whatever the cause, it's a quick and easy fix.

After mine ran out of gas...a 93 GL it spark knocked like crazy ALL the time...they said the fuel crystallized...whatever that means...never could get it fixed....that is why I got rid of it in just aa few months of ownership. Hope the same doesn't happen to yours!

Ok just got back. It was the 1993 Blue GL B6 car. I just got off a busy HWY and was reving it pretty hard in third when all of a sudden it died. I looked in the mirror and saw a puff of white smoke. I was rolling pretty good looking for a landing spot and could smell gas bad. If you recall this car had got on fire with the previous owner changing the fuel filter. Im thinking ...oh no ! I find the perfect paved pull off spot by the entrance to a new subdivision that is just starting to go up. Three lane scenic entrance with no traffic, perfect. I jump out thinking there is a blaming fire under the hood as fuel poured out onto the hot manifold. Nope, just gas under the car. It wasnt leaking so I turned the key over and I could hear fuel pouring onto the pavement. A motorist stops by and I ask him to hit the key for me. Gas is gushing out of the fuel filter like water out of a garden hose if you have your thumb over it. Whoa, whoa, whoa stop cranking, I see the problem and thank you. As I look at the plastic in line filter I say to myself " you big dummy that type of filter isnt probably meant to be used with a EFI system". The wife is there now so I take her car home where I have a new OEM fuel filter. Ive been meaning to install it but I been wanting to get the bracket out of an aspire to mount it. They mount up by the strut tower where it can be easily accessed. I barely have enough fuel line to jury rig it but I do and with a little electrical tape secure it out of harms way. The car fires up and I made it home where it awaits a permenant solution. Looks like the plastic fuel filter melted or the glue dissolved. I like the more expensive metal filters a lot better now.

LMAO now you know why the direct fits are 32 bucks. To save you hassle on the freeways!

Glad to hear it was something minor, and not major. Did you get the protege alloys on yet?

I think Im going to need some spacers in the back, not sure. I'll have to turn loose of approx $300 for some new 14s to find out. Hard to do since I just turned loose of approx $300 for some 13s. What size should I try ? 195/45/14 ? Looks like the clearance problem is going to be on the rear strut. Tought Id buy these from GTX to move them out some on the rear.

That's the size I'd go for. I don't think you will need the spacers thought being that they are a 5.5 width rim.

300 for tires of that sizse is not that bad.
