I just got my 3rd Festiva after MANY years of be fest-less. I am somewhat mechanicly inclined. Since this is not my daily driver, I thought would strip the engine compartment. I took out EVERTHING(engine, tranny, mounts, resivoirs, wires, etc). I also replaced some misc. seals and what not. I replaced the clutch, I thought things went well. At this point tranny is back on, engine is hanging. I was doing some surfing of this site and some posts about clutch's being put in backwards. Not ever having done one before, I didn't look or pay attention to what I had done. I don't remember what I had done .Things must be torn apart again.better now than later....... I guess

The first Festiva I had, I made into a convertable. It was fun, but what mistake. The second one I had.... i can't remember what happend to it. I just got the bug to get a new one. I found this one as a free-be. Its in very poor shape. Alot of TLC and it will be good as 1988. There was sooooo many beer cans in the car when I got it, I think there was more metal in the car, than the car is made of! I can't wait to get this fine piece of engineering back on the road

well, if its still hanging, it won't be too hard raise it (or lower) and then that that tranny off and check.... don't forget to torque the 6 bolts that hold the clutch to flywheel to spec.....

i did something similar when i did my auto to manual swap.... got the tranny on and then didn't torque those bolts... so that kept eating at my conscience and i tore it back off and torque'd them... little setback- but could've been worse. good luck.

i put my clutch on backwards when i was doing my bp swap and the tranny wouldnt go all the way on and bolt up but when i turned it around it went right on no problem. if it gave you troble going on it would be wrong but it might not be i thing if it when on ok it should ok. but it dont hurt to make sure

I checked today, and it was in the right way. better now than trying to figue it out later, and having to remove EVERYTHING again!. once i figure out why i dont have any front brakes, this beast just might hit the road!!!

Hey, don't feel bad. When I changed the half shafts in the Batstiva a few years ago, I grabbed the longer one and installed it on the shorter side, then got pissed when I figured out the one I had left was too short to do what it was supposed to. Oh, well, back to the drawing board.
