  • The Love They Deserve

I did the Aspire swap today. Replaced the control arms and found some Honda VX rims with 185/60r13 Sumitomo htr200's. The previous owner obviously hired a gorilla with a torque wrench to make sure the front wheels would never come off. I broke 2 deep impact sockets using a breaker bar and cheater pipe trying to get the lug studs out. Eventually I just removed the front knuckles with the rims and tires still attached. Not the most fun I've ever had but still not too bad. All together it took about 6 hours including the time to pull the parts from an aspire at the junkyard. I also made a shift knob out of a cue ball and did the escort wagon rear wiper gear transplant. Now the rear wiper stops in the down position which makes me happy. Still have much to do but I feel pretty good about putting a little love into this little car. She definitely deserves it. I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow - I know you guys love 'em.

I found plenty of them in my area on Car-Part.com. 1 over here, 50 miles away, another 75 miles away, another 120 miles the other way...

      Very hard to get apparently.
