  • Festiva stock tire size is 155/??R12

Can anyone fill in the ?? for me? i was trying to figure out the difference i'd have in speedo and mpg with my 155/80R13's instead of the stock 155R12's. What is the sidewall percentage?

If the Aspect ratio (as in 60 series, 70, 75, 80, etc) isn't posted in the tire size, they're usually 80 series. Old school tires (like bias ply) will usually be 78 series.

Your tire is 1" taller (about 22 3/4" tall) than the 12".

Stock Festiva tire size is 145R12 (80 series) about 21 1/8". Optional was 165/70-12 (about the same height).

Your speedo is off about 4.5% (compared to 155R12). 60mph is actually just under 63.

    Compared to 145R12, you're off 7.8%. 60 is actually about 64.7 mph

      FestivaFan covered it pretty well!
There is a speedo accuracy program somewhere where you input the tire size and it tells you how far off you are.
      Will post if I find.

Think when I put the 14s on my car, figured out the speedometer was about 6 or 7 mph off, and the odometer was basically not counting about every 7th or 8th mile I was driving. But then I never ran the stock 145s, so my odometer/speedo were off pretty much the whole time I had the car.

Hmmm. There's a mental picture for ya, me with my speedo off.

with the 155r12's on my car ....using my GPS it shows my speedo is exact. GPS says 65 and speedo says 65. No matter the speed the GPS matches the speedo.

My car reads fast. Speedo says 65, GPS says 63. Could be because of the Aspire trans.

                  BTW, I'm also running 155R12's

wow, thanks guys. Yea, i was using the miata garage calculator, but it requires all 3 numbers, and since i only had 2, it wouldn't work.

Thanks for doin my homework for me too!!
