    Could get a new car for cheap

    But, it's not a festy. 98 ZX2, 5spd, Power everything, A/C, moon roof, all for only $700!

    But how! you might ask?

    Broken timing belt, which caused the owner to think that it was trashed, but...

    Non-interference engine!!!

    So, i just have one problem, I feel like im taking advantage of this guy, since i know its just a $50 part and itt'l be back on the road. Should I feel bad?

    This ever happen to you guys?

    Don't feel bad unless the seller is a child or mentally handicapped. People gotta be Big Boys and make their own decisions and in this case the seller decided on a price. if he didn't consult with someone or get it looked at then shame on him. Also, he might be ripping you off by not disclosing any other problems.

      In any transaction, the 'worth' of any given item is the agreed upon price paid for that item...if this guy thinks that $700 is a fair price and you agree to pay that price, then the 'worth' of that item has been determined. Like sussexmike said, unless this person is a child or otherwise disadvantaged, he is capable of finding out the information that you know about the car. HOWEVER....if your conscience is gnawing at you, perhaps that you are just a nice person. I sold a minivan to a guy...it had a tick in the motor, so he asked if he could take it to his mechanic. I encouraged him to do so and he did...the mechanic told him the noise was nothing to be concerned about, so he bought it. Two weeks later, the motor seized...I felt badly for the guy, but both he and his mechanic thought the van was worth the price. They put another motor in the van and he is still tooling around town in it today.

            If the engine is bad in the ZX2 they are expensive engines to buy.

              If you really feel bad for the guy, offer to fix it for a couple hundred. If it's still bad (or he doesn't want to spend the money), you were going to buy it anyway, right?

                it's just a timing belt, and the Zetec is a non-interference engine.
