How much power do I lose with A/C?

Seems like the compressor is almost too much for my 58 hp engine.

When I drive with the A/C, the car becomes more sluggish than usual.

Anyone done any tests/know how much power the engine puts out to the wheels with the compressor engaged?

an ac compressor can demand as much as 15hp from the crank. That's 26% of your peak power!

When I turn mine off it's like hittin the nitrous

It also knocks me down about 3 to 4 MPG's when it is on :cry:

But I would rather be cool,
than sitting in a sweat pool 8)

It might be too late to ask you this.. but

how did you install your A/C set up? Do you have any ideas where I can find A/C set up? (the best way and/or cheapest way)
