I want to take pictures of my Festys to stick in the photo album section. I don't have a digital camera, or know how to upload the pics to this site. I'd like advice on:
    1. what inexpensive camera to buy? How many megapixels do I need? Would a phone camera be good enough? I want to keep the pictures relatively small so it doesn't take a long time to load, for those with dialup or slower DSL.
    2. How to actually get the pictures onto this site.

    Thanks!
    Tom

you can get a decent camera for $100-$150. You probably don't need more than 5 megapixels, but new ones have much more now. Camera phones work, but tend to be more blurry.
photobucket, imageshack, and others have it where you upload your photos to their site, then you can put the direct link into a post and it shows up the picture, not the link...
check out this sticky in the photo gallery section

My wife got her fuji? handheld camera (basic model by todays standards) for $100, it is 10mega pixles uses SD cards for storage which is nice, and takes decent pictures. My camera phone is only 2 mega pixles and the images just really lack in detail, especially if you taking a shot from more than a couple feet a way. With digital you should try to get the highest number of megapixles you can afford for your price range. Try ebay to find a used or really cheap digital camera. I have a older Fuji 4mp that takes XD cards and rechargable AA batteries I would sell you for like $50 bucks I think I still have the box and everything and it even has a lense adapter if your interested.

Photobucket is nice to upload pictures too just because it automatically shrinks them to the correct size for forum posting.

Thanks (to both of you) for the info. I think I'll get a 5MP or slightly better.

Get something with a good (I like 10x or better) optical zoom. Digital zoom (uses software to enlarge the pics) is nice, but being able to zoom in with the lens is better.

you can still use the old roll of film aswell - you just have to request a CD on developing - not as convienent as a digital but still works

The one I'm using is an 8.2 megapixel, with only a 3x zoom. Better for distance pictures, not as good for close-ups. And it was only around 80 bucks.

And like tuner said, there's always the option of a film camera, and having the pics put on cd.

I personally prefer holding onto my photograhs, something about physically having them.

That could be because all the digital pictures I took on my honeymoon disapeared when my harddrive crashed....

The CD option is nice, and you can get a film camera for pennies these days.
