The soft headliners came out of what year and type Festiva?

The soft ones are in the early festivas. As to his original questions. I also prefer the soft ones, but they are a PITA to remove without damaging them. Fairly thin vinyl, the rods that hold them up against the roof under enough pressure to make getting them out without damaging the headliner pretty hard. I got one out with only a couple of small tears, but I'm not sure I could get it back in again. I believe the solid ones are a lot easier to deal with as far as removal and installation are concerned.

You have to use the one that came with the car. There are auto belt headliners and manual belt headliners.

But you could use the soft headliner if you converted to manual seatbelts, correct?

I did the swap on my car. It wasn't too bad - just swapped out the entire interior.

That is the reason, or one of the reasons, that FB71 has most of Batstiva's interior. He's going from auto seatbelt interior to manual.

If I remember Matts post right the only thing different from auto to manual was he had to fab a tab to keep the top of the retractor from bouncing around

i just removed the soft headliner from my green not long ago and it was a soft headliner and i had no trouble removing the rods that held it up and didn't cause any tears in the headliner
